Key advantages of becoming a sponsor
Access to an attractive target market
The Otago Racing Club has successfully introduced two major race days in the last ten years; Melbourne Cup Day in November and the Christmas at the Races Meeting in Cromwell. Both these events now sit in the top ten attended race days in New Zealand with over 5000 patrons in attendance at each of these meetings.
Enhanced image in the broader racing market
The Otago Racing Club is the principal racing club in the southern half of the South Island and stages 13 race days a year, at two venues, Wingatui in Dunedin and Roundhill Racecourse in Cromwell.
It is the only Club outside of Christchurch to stage a Premier Race Meeting, which is scheduled on Champions Day in February each year. Prize money distributed on this day is around $350,000.
Mainstream media exposure
Races days at Wingatui and Cromwell receive TV coverage of every race on Trackside TV and TAB TV throughout New Zealand and Australia. Each race day stages a minimum of eight races. Trackside TV has 259,000 viewers in NZ on a normal month.
Races are screened in every TAB venue – pub, club and hotel – around New Zealand.
Sponsor a race day or individual race – you business name will go in every national newspaper, every form guide, on every betting ticket sold on your race, on TV and in the official race day racebook.
Facebook and twitter – the opportunity to communicate with our supporter base on a regular basis.
Racebook advertising – this can be part of a race sponsorship or individual advertising. On larger race days over 5000 copies of the racebook are produced. This reaches a wide audience from Dunedin and Central Otago.
Oncourse signage – the cameras will capture your company logo as the horses cross the finishing line providing for terrific brand exposure across New Zealand and Australia.
A race day at Wingatui or Cromwell is the perfect opportunity to host clients in your own private marquee or network in the hospitality areas. The Otago Racing Club can put together a hospitality package to suit your individual business needs and budgets.
